RANDOM LAKE, WI (WHBL) – To mask, or not to mask? That’s one question the Random Lake School District asked parents while developing its plans for the upcoming school year, and the survey says – make it optional.
Parent surveys were conducted for all three levels in the district, and responses showed that a majority were little, or not at all concerned, about sending kids back to class as long as safety measures were in place. They also preferred masks be optional, however Superintendent Michael Trimberger said in a video to parents that this might not be possible if mandates require them. And while most preferred instructions to be in-person, five days a week, enough expressed interest that a “Blend-Ed” approach combining in-person and virtual learning will be put in place. Trimberger said that Random Lake families will be able to choose what works for them, and switch their approach as needed.
In school, the temperatures of every person entering the building will be checked without them even knowing through remote sensing. Increased cleaning and sanitizing will be employed, especially in high-touch areas, and social distancing is a given. Trimberger pointed out that with a student-teacher ratio of 15:1, little adjustment if any will be needed to achieve that.
Videos with much more information are being posted on the district’s facebook page and although more adjustments will be made by then, the Rams are ready to convene on September 1st.
