Some changes prompted by the need to control the spread of the coronavirus during the pandemic are expected to be adopted for more permanent use by the Plymouth City Council on Tuesday.
One change concerns the meetings themselves. Emergency action last year allowed for remote attendance at Common Council meetings, and with the needed infrastructure and software in place, and a staff proficient at using it, an amendment codifying its use will be discussed. Members attending remotely would be counted for quorum purposes, and the mayor would be able to convene a remote meeting at his or her discretion if it best serves the public health and safety.
Another item to be discussed would establish a general sidewalk permit for limited time periods allowing for special events and sales, and a second annual Cafe’ permit that allows businesses to use the sidewalk for dining, renewable every April 15th. Each permit would cost a Plymouth business $50.
