The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County has dropped to 61, matching the lowest number last reported on July 9th of 2020. 8 recoveries outpaced the three new cases that raised the case total in the county to 13,846, and hospitalizations dropped by one, to 2 patients. Only 10 tests in total were logged by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health since Wednesday, another sign that the pandemic is demanding less attention from the public as vaccinations increase and CDC recommendations allow tossing the masks for fully vaccinated individuals.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services added 165 new cases of COVID-19 to the running total which now reaches 610,565 cases so far. Another 19 deaths were confirmed due to the disease, raising the death toll to 7,129, while another 794 deaths are listed as “probable” due to the coronavirus.
The Wisconsin Hospitals Association reports a net drop of 10 patients being treated statewide for COVID-19, with 184 persons now in the hospital, 67 of those in ICU beds. 377 patients are on ventilators statewide for any purpose, a number typical of reports since late February with only a few spikes, and not lower than 345 reported on May 30.
Another 109 Sheboygan County residents have received at least one dose of vaccine since Wednesday according to State DHS statistics. That’s 46.4% of the population. 47,144 are fully vaccinated agains the SARS-CoV-2 virus, an increase of 183 since Wednesday, and accounting for 40.9% of the county population.
