Schools have been coping with the effects of COVID-19 since early last year, but some things can’t be addressed by masking, social distancing and remote learning. That’s the case when it comes to the food served, at least in the Oostburg School District.
Families there were told on social media that the district is dealing with a shortage of available products for school meals, mainly because of a lack of raw ingredients and labor to produce, unload, and transfer the food products. Some things usually provided won’t be available or arrive when expected, forcing the kitchen to make last-minute substitutions.
Families were assured, though, that the meals will remain balanced, healthy, and plentiful.
