167 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19 have been recorded by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health since Monday’s semi-weekly update on the Pandemic, raising the total case count to 15,517. According to Thursday’s report there are 605 active cases now being monitored, up 24 since Wednesday, and the highest since 620 were recorded on January 22nd. 3 more persons needed hospitalization and 4 were discharged since Wednesday, leaving 9 county residents now hospitalized.
The FDA has authorized a 3rd dose booster shot of the Pfizer vaccine for those 65 years of age and older, individuals 18-64 years old who are at high risk of severe COVID-19, and individuals 18-64 whose frequent institutional or occupational exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 virus puts them at high risk of serious complications of the disease, including severe COVID-19. Even so, the Sheboygan County DPH is waiting for further guidance from the Wisconsin DHS before starting the rollout. The County advises persons to monitor the Wisconsin DHS website for the most current information concerning booster shots.
63,338 Sheboygan County residents have received at least one dose of vaccine, comprising 54.9% of the population. 52.3%, or 60,273, are fully vaccinated as of Thursday morning according to the Wisconsin DHS.
There are currently 24 active facility-wide investigations underway in Sheboygan County according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The State DHS indicates Five long-term care facilities involved, while the County Division of Public Health lists six, and those are:

The State DHS also lists 4 non-healthcare workplaces and 1 “other” setting, as well as 13 educational facilities. The Sheboygan County DPH says that it is working on updating the criteria for reporting education settings with active investigations, and until the process is complete, those will not be identified.
