Three Sheboygan County organizations will be putting nearly a half million additional dollars to use promoting tourism in the county.
On Wednesday, Governor Evers awarded a total of around $15 million ($14,995,379.31) in American Rescue Act, or ARPA, funds to Destination Marketing Organizations throughout the state.
In Sheboygan County, the Village of Elkhart Lake was awarded over $185,000 ($185,497.43), Visit Sheboygan Inc. received over $208,000 ($208,534.13), and Sheboygan Falls Chamber Main Street was granted over $47,000 ($47,786.50).
In making the awards, the Governor noted the hard hit on tourism caused by the pandemic, an estimated 22 percent decline, and said that the funds will jumpstart Wisconsin’s tourism recovery and uplift local economies. Wisconsin’s tourism industry is valued at over $17 billion.
