MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The state is rolling back more COVID-19 restrictions. Masks become optional for most state employees starting March 1st.
The state’s Department of Administration issued the new guidance on Friday.
Workers who are not experiencing symptoms of illness or fever will no longer have to wear masks inside state buildings or other facilities. The wearing of masks will be optional.
Rules for isolation and quarantine for workers who test positive are unchanged. They must stay at home for 5 additional days once they are asymptomatic.
Masking requirements remain for workers in the Department of Health Services, Veterans Affairs, and Corrections. Workers in nursing homes will also continue to wear masks. Those requirements may be dropped on April 1st.
The testing program for state employees will be discontinued on March 13th.
About 77% of state workers are vaccinated.
