Two more deaths were attributed to COVID-19 in Sheboygan County by the Division of Public Health on Tuesday, the 254th and 255th of the pandemic. The most recent casualties were someone in their 50s and another in their 70s. 114 of the deaths occurred to persons at least 80 years old, sixty-eight were in their 70s, forty were in their 60s, seventeen were in their 50s, nine were in their 40s, ,six were in their 30s, and one was between 10 and 19 years old.
Only two new cases of the disease were confirmed in the last day, while the active case count dropped to 340, 50 fewer than on Monday. The most recent time the number of active cases was below 340 was August 23, 2021 when 289 were being monitored.
The 7-day average of new daily COVID-19 cases on Monday was calculated at 5, matching the previous 5 recorded on July 19, 2021. That figure has not been at zero since March 14, 2020.
One new patient was hospitalized in the last day, but nine beds are now occupied in Sheboygan County, one less than on Monday.
25 more persons received their first dose of vaccine since Monday, while another 25 completed their second dose. Another 21 got their boosters. 521 doses in all were administered last week. That brings the first-dose total to 72,265, or 62.7%, the second-dose total to 69,058, or 59.9%, and those boosted to 37,134, or 32.2%.
The number of skilled long-term care facilities hosting active facility-wide investigations dropped by 3 to five total, those being:
