This is an insane video
Man skiing down the mountain randomly sees a snowboarder buried face down in the snow.
Stops. Digs him out. Saves his life.

Good LORD. I am not a skier, and most of my snowboarding expertise comes from this bad boy in the late 90’s:

So my first question of, ‘how did the snowboarder end up like that,’ was answered by a Twitter commenter talking about how, ‘tree wells are terrifying.’ I then googled, ‘tree wells,’ and found this pretty succinct definition:

Nope. Nope, nope, nope. Scratch snowboarding off of my mid-life crisis activity list. I’ll stick to buying a European car I can’t afford and harassing youths about their music choices in social media comment sections. Safer and just exhilarating enough.
Now my guess is that if you’re a veteran skier or snowboarder, and you’re skiing or snowboarding in locations like this, you are prepared for anything. But credit to this skier for not only noticing this guy, but for having the necessary tools on hand to dig him out of a precarious situation. The first time I watched this thing through I was trying to think of what I would even do if I were in a similar situation and the most obvious answer is that I would somehow end up upside down right next to him. And as far as I know you can’t blog your way out of being stuck upside down in a tree well. Wild.
PS: There are certain beers that just taste better than other beers. Friday beers are next level good. A beer on the patio while waiting for the grill to heat up? Top tier beer. A beer at the airport while waiting to go on vacation? TOP tier beer. I would imagine the, ‘just saved a guy’s life/just got my life saved from imminent death’ beer that these guys had at the lodge once they got out of there is right up there though.
