So normally our ‘Feel Good Friday on a _____’ series connects to someone doing something charitable, I think last week we had the military dog reunited with his handler, things like that. Things that even the jaded comment sections of the internet can’t find something wrong with.
Well, today’s Feel Good Friday on a Monday is perhaps expanding the purview of our previous stories. But this story warmed the cockles of my cold, degenerate heart.
Meet someone who has only been identified as, ‘Texas Woman’:
This lady just hit a $300,000+ jackpot waiting for her flight at McCarran.

As you see in the above tweet, Texas Woman casually cashed a $302K slot machine tickets on her way OUT of Vegas. Love it! I don’t know this woman’s exact backstory, but my guess is that she was in Vegas with her friends for a long weekend/week. They probably took in a few shows, got a nice hotel room, hit up a few buffets, maybe got talked into a few edibles, you know, whatever happens happens. But I’m also guessing they lost a bunch of money on slots and table games throughout the weekend. So they hit the airport, about ready to head back to Texas and real life, when she thinks, ‘I’ve got a few hours to blow and a little cash in my pocket, what’s the worst that happens.’ Bingo bango, she hits a $302K jackpot!
And leaving town is the best possible time for that to happen. I had a little internal debate before I started writing about the timing that you’d prefer: Would you rather hit a $302K slot machine jackpot at the Vegas airport as you get into town, or on your way out of town. Got to be out of town if you want to keep any of that money. If you cash a $300k ticket the second you land in Vegas, how much of that money makes it to the end of the week. All of a sudden you’re upgrading hotels, you’re playing $200 hands of blackjack instead of $50, I could see it unraveling in a hurry. But $300k as you leave, you’re keeping that cash. And you probably had a good time anyway.
PS: I hate to be a cynic, and I’m sure it’s not the case here, but it would be pretty diabolical for the Las Vegas Department of Tourism to have people planted at the airport ‘winning’ jackpots as thousands of people are coming to town. Just giving jamokes like me instant hope that I too could be a winner, when there’s really no chance of that happening.
