It still all seems impossible. Literally, every single day, I watch a different highlight package, or All Access video, from a different game or series during the title run. Just to confirm to my brain that, yes, we did watch this happen in real time only three months ago.
And tonight the circle becomes complete with ring and banner night! Each Bucks player will get their ring the size of an iPad and they’ll finally unveil the 2nd championship banner in franchise history. And James Harden gets a front row seat for the whole thing! Things you love to see: That.
The Bucks also extended Grayson Allen for 2 years, $20 million yesterday. Both Allen and Donte were entering the final years of their rookie deal, so if you didn’t get an extension done yesterday, that player will enter restricted free agency this upcoming offseason. The move makes a lot of sense. As bitter of a pill as it is to swallow as a diehard Badger fan, Grayson Allen makes this team better. Him and Donte are very similar players, Grayson is healthy and Donte isn’t right now. So it’s the logical move to extend the player you’re more sure of at the present moment. I think the Bucks still like Donte a lot, but we’ll see how he bounces back from last season’s injury. If he comes back and tears it up, you can always match whatever offer he gets from another team. OR, he could be big trade bait before the deadline.
PS: I got all the way to the ‘place order’ page for tickets for tonight’s game before I x-ed everything out. It would be fun to be there, but that banner isn’t going anywhere. I can go and see it with a $20 ticket in mid-November.
Double PS: Pinch yourself Bucks fans: This roster is more talented than the one that won a title last year. And they’ve got a once-in-a-lifetime superstar with Jordan/Kobe work ethic, who is arguably JUST entering his prime. Mainline it.
