Okay, a LOT to unpack here.
First things first: Tori Yorgey can report for me any day of the week. She got absolutely truck-sticked by an SUV, popped right back up, apologized to the woman that hit her, and continued on with her report. Poise, composure, toughness. You can’t teach any of that in a broadcast school. Actually you don’t teach much of anything in a broadcast school but that’s another story for another day. Maybe Tori can report on it.
Second: ‘I actually got hit by a car just like that in college so we’re all good.’ WHAT. I guess you can learn something at broadcast school after all! You learn how to chew up getting hit by a car live on TV and spit it out seconds later.
Third: Studio Tim’s reactions are laugh out loud funny. ‘I just got hit by a car.’ Tim:
Huh. I can’t put my finger on why he’s so funny, I think it might because he stays in ‘TV Broadcaster’ mode the entire time, but his faces as he’s digesting what just happened had me doubled over. ‘Were you bumped down low Tori, or where you hit up high?’ BUMPED, Tim?? I got f—– tattooed by a Suburban.
Also, low-key one of the best exchanges in the entire 2 minute video: ‘My whole life just flashed before my eyes.’ ‘Yeah that can happen.’ Friggin’ Tim.
Anyway I hope Tori gets some kind of compensation for this, but if I know a broadcast company the way I think I do, she’ll likely get some kind of Dundie at the end of the year for her professionalism and maybe a $50 gift card to Applebees that she’ll have to pay taxes on on her next paycheck.
PS: Every time I watch this Tim makes me laugh at something else. 1:41: ‘So you didn’t even see the car coming?’ SIR.
Double PS: No way West Virginia is technically a part of the Midwest, right? Because Tori is displaying some next level, Midwest-Nice. ‘That woman was so nice though, she didn’t mean to, it was an accident’- Tori talking about someone who HIT HER WITH A CAR.
Triple PS: Could you imagine if an NBA player got hit by a car during a game? Like if LeBron James got hit the way Tori did? He’d be wheeled out of the arena in Herse.
