Nashville Was Well Represented At The Grammy's

Kacey Musgraves won for best country album and album of the year. Her total trophy count was four. She appeared to be genuinely surprised when she won the overall award for LP of the year. I appreciate her talents and her modesty. When accepting the award for ‘Golden Hour’ she said, “I would have nothing without songs… it’s all about the songs,” Musgraves said, thanking her husband (Ruston Kelly) and emphasizing this current music era as a “great time” for “art.” “Thank you to my fans. Thanks for spreading this music.”

Musgraves was on stage honoring Dolly Parton with Maren Morris, Miley Cyrus, pop star Katy Perry and Miss Dolly herself. There was a great deal of happy people in the audience while this tribute was being presented.

Diana Ross, Motown’s Diva belted out a mini medley of her hits in a tribute to herself. She wanted to make sure the audience knew she was celebrating her 75th birthday that night, although her birthday isn’t for another month. She was not shy at all by admitting her age and repeating it more than once. I believe she mentioned it three times. Heck, I would be boastful too if I was in her position.

There was a thunderous and sustained round of applause when a former FLOTUS appeared on stage at the beginning of the broadcast.

This opening number was fabulous. An extravaganza of rich, live music and dancing. I believe there was a subtle message with that performance, as the artist J. Belvin was ‘reading’ a newspaper with the headlines, “Build Bridges Not Walls.”
