What a showdown! Like a Midwest version of the shootout at the OK Corral. Just a pair of dads squaring each other up with their snowblowers on a Saturday morning. This still shot just about had me doubled over:
Nobody giving an inch. Thank Christ no one caught a rock in their auger or this could have taken a bad twist. I still would have been laughing watching the video, but I would have felt worse about it.
And this video is like watching a movie in reverse. You open with the big shootout and then in the last 5 seconds you understand what the dispute is about*. The guy on the left is clearly, and unnecessarily, LAUNCHING snow from his driveway onto the other guy’s freshly plowed driveway. I’m sure the guy on the right noticed this as the guy on the left was making his first pass heading towards the driveway apron and that’s how this whole fight started. Now, as with all neighbor conflicts, this clearly has more to it than just this one incident. I highly doubt you start to blow snow in the face of a neighbor who you otherwise get along with because of a single issue like that. I don’t want to know, I need to know more about the backstory here. I’m transfixed.
PS: In my brain these two are Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau from Grumpy Old Men.

I said this when we first blogged about it when it came out and I stand by it: No one in the history of the internet has misinterpreted the reaction to a video more than the guy filming this. He 1,000% thought he was going to expose his neighbor, Gary, as a lunatic. But Gary is 1,000% in the right here. Team Gary.
