As recorded in most data measuring the ongoing pandemic, the recent surge continues receding as it has been since the second week in January in Sheboygan County, and the State of Wisconsin since the middle of last month.
Statewide the 7-day average of confirmed cases is 1,941, down from a high of 18,816 on January 19. The 7-day average of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County was measured at 34 on Sunday, February 13th. That compares with a reading of 130 two weeks previous, on January 30th, and is now equal to the 7-day average last reported on September 30, 2021. Our high was reached on January 10 this year when the 7-day average was 282.
29,000 total cases of COVID-19 have now been recorded in Sheboygan County during the nearly 2-year duration of the pandemic here. 80 new confirmed cases were recorded since Friday, but with 557 recoveries, active cases dropped 477 to 2,241.
The number of patients so far hospitalized for COVID-19 in Sheboygan County was revised downward by 4 on Monday to 1,153 due to adjustments made by the State DHS. Currently, 6 patients are hospitalized, 5 fewer than on Friday.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County is still considered “high” with a case rate (The total number of new cases per 100,000 persons within the last 7 days) of 440.44. This is one of the few increasing metrics, having gone up 66.76 over the weekend. The percent of tests returning positive in the last 7 days fell 6.32% from Friday to a level of 10.68%.
Statewide 56 counties, including Sheboygan, have a “critically high” activity level, but that’s after all 72 counties were experiencing that same level for weeks on end. 16 counties are now at “very high” levels, indicating that there’s still plenty of progress to be made.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has addressed a technical issue that prevented updates of vaccinations during the past week. The most recent previous update was on Monday the 7th of February. As of this Monday, the 14th, 66.0% of Sheboygan County residents, or 71,926 persons, have now received at least one dose of vaccine. That’s an increase of 364 in the past week. 62.8%, or 68,458 persons, have received all necessary doses. That’s an increase of 528 in the past week. In all, the DHS reports that 526 doses were administered in Sheboygan County last week.
As of Monday, there are 7 skilled nursing long-term care facilities with active facility-wide investigations, which are initiated when there is one or more cases of COVID-19 within the facility, whether a resident or employee. This is two fewer than reported last Monday. The current 7 are:

One less educational facility is under facility-wide investigation than last week. At school settings, those are conducted when there are two or more cases of COVID-19 within the school among students, staff or faculty. The 43 currently being watched are:
