YES. Now we’re talking. A basic summer blockbuster. You’ve got a good guy, you’ve got a bad guy, you’ve got action/adventure, you’ve got humor, people who are really really good looking, that’s what it’s all about. I don’t need different timelines, I don’t need metaverses, I don’t need Easter eggs to pay attention to that will pop up in other Marvel movies 5 years from now. Basically: If I’m seeing a summer superhero movie, I don’t want to think. Just give me quick scenes with explosions or a few funny lines that will keep the story moving and keep me from falling into stage 4 REM sleep in those new recliners at every theater. A Michael Bay Special, if you will.
And this seems to fit the bill. I do really appreciate how Thor’s franchise has morphed into a humor franchise over the years. There were some funny lines in the first two movies, but Ragnorok and Thor’s interactions with the Guardians of the Galaxy is where the humor in his character really took off. I know there are about a thousand different Marvel movies and TV shows at this point, but Ragnorok is probably the #1 piece of Marvel content for me.
Anyway, if we can keep this bad boy’s run time under 120 minutes then we will have the perfect summer blockbuster. I may even go to theater to see it. And by that I mean I’ll look at showtimes when it’s released and ultimately decide to wait until it’s on Disney Plus in 2023.

Again, looks like cheap dialog, special effects, and nostalgic callbacks. Another movie that will subscribe to the Michael Scott, ‘KISS,’ method of sales.
