The last of the holdouts is in. Green Bay Packers second round draft choice Christian Watson has signed his four year, 9.2 million dollar rookie contract. He was the last of the 11 picks to come to terms and the signing occurs as rookies are set to check in for the start of the 2022 training camp on Friday. With draft pick money already slotted based on where players were chosen, the hang up was over how much of that 9.2 million will be guaranteed by the club. For years, most first round choices received guaranteed deals but recently, high second round picks have had most if not all of their money guaranteed. While the Packers may not have guaranteed all of it for Watson, there are reports the North Dakota State wide receiver had some of his money into the 4th year locked up.
Veterans will report to camp on Monday with the first practice set for Wednesday. The Packers announced the first three public practices, next Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, will begin each day at 10:45 AM on Ray Nitschke Field.
The team is also still looking for more veteran help at receiver. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported Wednesday the Packers worked out John Brown. The former third round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2016, Brown has played for seven different teams in his NFL career, suiting up for four teams just last year. The Packers also worked out Airon Servais, an offensive tackle from Syracuse who was not drafted this spring. Servais played his high school ball a mile away from Lambeau Field for the Ashwaubenon Jaguars.
