COVID-19 is once again increasing in Sheboygan County as the new Omicron variant leads the resurgence of the now 2-1/2 year old pandemic.
The new designation comes as the case rate per 100,000 population has risen from 197.68 last week to 212.42 this week. There were 6.5 new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the last 7 days, and 3% of staffed inpatient beds are in use by confirmed COVID-19 patients.
The Centers for Disease Control advises that under the “Medium” community transmission level, those at high risk for severe illness should talk to their healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions; stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations, and get tested if you have symptoms. People may choose to mask at any time, and those with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
