A threat regarding school safety at Sheboygan South High School has been deemed “not credible” after investigation by both the Sheboygan Area School District and the Sheboygan Police Department.
The threat came in the form of what was called “troubling posts” online that were shared on Thursday (2/9/23), and appears to be one of numerous such internet-based threats. The Sheboygan Area School District was just one of may affected nationwide.
The SPD went on to note that while this threat was likely a hoax the anxiety it caused is understandable, and the Sheboygan Area School District said that the safety and well-being of students and staff are a top priority. As such, all threats are taken seriously until they can be either confirmed or dismissed.
Social media appears to have been used in this most recent instance, and efforts to monitor the situation are ongoing. Any parent or child that becomes aware of a threat to a school, regardless of the time of day or night, is asked to immediately report it to the police or a school official so an investigation can commence.
