Sentencing is scheduled this afternoon for a man convicted in the drug-related death of another. 29-year-old Kendall Acoff was found guilty of causing the death of a man by manufacturing a controlled substance that person then ingested. The Coroner said the victim’s cause of death was fentanyl and cocaine toxicity.
The complaint said that Acoff and the victim knew each other as they were in the same housing unit at Oakhill Correctional Institution during 2021. Phone records indicated multiple calls from the victim to Acoff, and texts from the victim indicated that he’d obtained “a whole bunch” of drugs from Acoff.
Having been found guilty of First Degree Reckless Homicide, Acoff faces as much as 40 years in prison, a fine of $100,000, or both. As a repeat felony offender, another six years could be added to the sentence.
