In my 20+ years of working in radio, I’ve said some pretty stupid things on the air. My contention is that if you give anyone a 4-5 hour daily radio show, that person is going to say something idiotic at some point. You could be a Mensa Scholar, at some point you’re going to say something that makes it sound like you got held back in 2nd grade. I once did an entire break promoting a station giveaway to Malibu, and I spent most of that break discussing how long the flight would be to Hawaii. When Aaron Rodgers swore off of dairy, I listed all of the things he’s going to miss out on, including eggs (I stand by that one). It happens.
All of that on the table, Stanley Cups have been a hot talking point lately. And every single time I’ve heard them referenced, I thought we were talking about this:

Somebody in our building a few weeks back was talking about how there was a line at the Sheboygan Target to get a Stanley Cup. I thought, ‘why is the Stanley Cup in town? Is someone on the Golden Knights from Sheboygan and I didn’t know about it??’
Apparently the Stanley Cup being referenced is not the legendary NHL championship trophy, but one of these:

How these are so popular, and why they cost $50+ a pop? I have no idea. This reminds me of when Yeti coolers took over the world when this one does the exact same job for $20:

Anyway, long story long, the guy in the video posted above was trying to cash in on the Stanley Cup craze by stealing some limited edition Starbucks Stanley Cups. It doesn’t seem like this dude had an Ocean’s 11 strategy here, just your basic snatch and grab. What he didn’t anticipate was the guy at the door engaging him in a good old fashioned Oklahoma drill! Look at that pad level! Low man wins! Low man wins! He does appear to have gotten away with 1 cup, which based on the popularity of these things might be better than starting a Roth IRA. You learn something new everyday.
PS: Are these Stanley Cup Tumblers the same company that made these thermoses back in the day??

Has to be, right?
