Live look at 8-year old Jonathan reading about the possibility of a Royal Rumble coming to Milwaukee:
YES! YES! YES! Look I get that Wrestlemania gets all of the headlines as ‘THE’ event of the year for the WWF (fight me, panda bears). And rightfully so. It’s been the biggest event in rasslin’ for the last 40 years.
But if I’m honest, as a kid I always had slightly more affection for the Royal Rumble. The uniqueness of that main event, the surprise entrants and rivalries, how somebody very random would always end up in the final four wrestlers in the ring during the rumble, how it started the ‘road to Wrestlemania,’ I looked forward to it every single year.
So to hear that Milwaukee and Am Fam Field seem to be having at least semi-serious conversations about bringing that PPV to Milwaukee is AWESOME.
Now this all revolves around the ‘winterizing’ of Am Fam Field, which was included in the $500 million dollar spending plan served up late last season. I’m not sure what all goes into winterizing a stadium that large (just put that plastic wrap over the windows?), but that will be completed at the end of the 2025 baseball season. Which means the absolute earliest Am Fam could host the event would be January of 2026.
But make no mistake, whether it’s 2026, 2027, or 2035, this will be a ‘shut up and take my money’ situation.
I’m not sure if we’ll still be using the American dollar at that point or Dogecoin, but I’ll be prepared either way.
PS: Royal Rumble 1992 is the greatest Royal Rumble of all time. On that statement I will not entertain debate. BUT: I also think it should be mentioned on the Mount Rushmore for greatest WWF events of all time. Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby the Brain Heenan are PEAK comedy during their commentary:

Those two were always great, but that as their opus. It also included a HALL OF FAME, Flair/Bobby/Mr. Perfect rant after Flair won the belt:
Double PS: I think my Royal Rumble affection also comes from the fact that 4-player Royal Rumble on N64 back in the 90’s was second only to Goldeneye in terms of mulitplayer video game enjoyment. Get your buddies over, hook up the rumble packs, make some pizza rolls and roll out the ice cold Mountain Dew. We didn’t know how good we had it!
