Autumn leaves now beginning to fall will be scooped from curbsides in the City of Sheboygan beginning next Monday.
The Department of Public Works said that the program will continue until Wednesday, November 26th during which residents may rake leaf piles into the street gutter for easy, fast pickup by City crews. Outside of that period, the practice is prohibited in order to reduce the chance of clogging storm drains.
The City has scheduled one zone per weekday for collection so crews can concentrate their efforts, and during heavy leaf falls some collections may linger into the next day. Collection could also be suspended during snow, ice or freezing rain.
While the collection is convenient, it’s also labor-intensive and alternative methods like mulching are encouraged.
