MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — The State of Wisconsin is reporting another 104 deaths due to the COVID-19 coronavirus on Tuesday, a new single-day record and the first time the single-day reported death total sat over 100.
It came alongside another 6,202 new reported cases of the virus. It puts the seven day average to 5,732. Tuesday’s new cases represented 37.6% of the 16,510 tests completed, with the seven-day average falling to 28.7%.
Since the onset of the pandemic, there have been 363,973 confirmed cases, more than 2.1 million negative tests and 3,115 deaths. DHS considers 284,903 people to have recovered from COVID-19.
The good news is that the seven day average is actually down from its record high last week, although experts say the disease activity across the state has not meaningfully decreased. A month ago, the seven day average was 4,050 and tests averaged 26.1% positive. Three months ago, before the surge began, the state’s seven day average for new cases was 665.
