With federal funds tied up in partisan arguments, hungry families in Sheboygan County may be feeling even hungrier.
The Sheboygan County Food Bank says that November FoodShare benefits have been delayed. The Food Bank serves more than 12,000 persons, nearly half of them children. The delayed funds come even as new family visits at the Sheboygan Cares Food Pantry increased by 24% so far this month.
While Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services hasn’t received word that EBT cards would be deactivated or benefits lost, members are being advised to prepare for temporary disruptions and might want to stock up on non-perishable items using October benefits.
The Food Bank says that the effects of the missing benefits can be offset in part through public donations. You can make an immediate difference for families during this time by:
Donating the most-needed items (cereal, canned tuna, pasta, pasta sauce);
Dropping off unexpired non-perishable or perishable donations at our location (3115 N. 21st St., Door C, Monday–Friday, 9 AM–3 PM);
Hosting a food drive or giving online at www.
