A child attempting to board a school bus near the Village of Valders in Manitowoc County was struck by a passing truck on Monday morning.
Deputies from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office and EMS Personnel responded to the 7000 block of CTH “J” near Valders at 7:23 AM Monday to reports of a child being struck by a passing vehicle while trying to board the bus while lights were flashing and the stop arm was extended. Initial reports claimed that the child was still lying in the roadway.
Upon arrival the 15-year-old juvenile that was struck was transported for treatment of minor injuries to a local medical facility, and a second bus arrived to transport the remaining students to their intended destinations.
The 59-year-old St. Nazianz man driving the F-150 pickup truck which struck the child was cited for Failure to Stop for a School Bus, and for Inattentive Driving.
