The new Sheboygan Common Council has elected a new president and other officers. On Tuesday evening, the Alderpersons-elect were sworn in, and after referring rules of the Common Council to the Committee of the Whole, went through the process of selecting their officers for the 2026-27 session.
Alder Trey Mitchell nominated, and Alder Joe Heidemann seconded, the nomination of sitting President Dean Dekker. Alder Grazia Perella then nominated Susie Boorse, who was seconded by Alder Michael Close. After a closed ballot of votes was tallied, Susie Boorse was named president of the Council. Another closed ballot followed after Alder Heidemann nominated, and Ryan Menzer seconded Trey Mitchell for Vice President; Alder Crawien Nominated, and Grazia Perella seconded the nomination of Michael Close for the office. Close was subsequently named the VP of the 2026-27 Council.
In a meeting of the Committee of the Whole that immediately followed the Common Council meeting, Alanza Grawien survived the process of nomination and election to the position of the Committee of the Whole Chairperson.
