The sight of armed personnel dressed in military drab and draped in tactical gear can be unsettling – which is why the City of Sheboygan Police and Fire Departments along with the Sheboygan Area School District want you to know about a crucial training session that will take place next week Wednesday.
A nationally-recognized leader in emergency preparedness and training, the Mercyhealth Trauma Preparedness Team, will facilitate the exercise from 7 AM until 5 PM on August 12th on the grounds of the Horace Mann Middle School on Union Avenue. The event is designed to present a realistic environment that should result in enhanced public safety, but in order to to do that, distractions must be minimized. Accordingly, the property will be closed to the public during that time, and people are being asked to avoid the immediate training area and to refrain from gathering near the campus.
Those who do pass the location can expect to see an increased presence of police officers, firefighters, emergency vehicles, ambulances, and other first responders. All surrounding streets will remain open and there’s no threat to the public.
