The John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC) is receiving a gift from artist Michelle Grabner: a body of work representing nearly all of her three-decade career, from her earliest paintings in the 1990s to present day.
The gift includes approximately 700 paintings, 1200 prints and photographs, and 200 sculptures, across a wide range of media, alongside a selection of 300 works from Grabner’s personal art collection and an extensive archive of her teaching materials from her tenure as a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1962, Grabner is one of the state’s most influential and widely recognized contemporary artists, curators, and critics and has a long history with the Arts Center. The Arts Center will begin the process of cataloging and researching the collection in the coming months, with plans for public engagement and exhibition to be announced at a future date.
