A fatal UTV crash has been reported by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office. Officials say the crash happened around 7:15 PM Wednesday on State Highway 42 just north of East Hillcrest Road about a mile north of Two Rivers. Responding deputies, along with fire and emergency personnel, reported to the scene where a UTV struck a deer.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim, a 47-year-old man from Michicot, was returning from a hunting trip when his northbound UTV struck the deer, causing him to lose control. After entering the east ditch the vehicle overturned and struck a utility pole, ejecting the operator who was not wearing a helmet at the time. Lifesaving measures at the scene were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced deceased.
Highway 42 was closed between East Hillcrest and Rawley Roads until 1:15 AM while Wisconsin Public Service crews repaired the damaged pole.
The accident remains under investigation by the Wisconsin DNR.
