Alder Grazia Perrella, who’s represented Sheboygan’s 7th district for the past 5-plus years, stepped down from her post during last night’s Common Council meeting.
After being recognized for her service by Mayor Ryan Sorenson, Perrella explained that she was unable to find a suitable new home within her district, but will be remaining in the City. She thanked the many City personnel and fellow Council members for their assistance, and she also thanked her constituents in District 7, telling them that “It has truly been an honor to serve as your alderperson in this last five-and-one-half years. It has been a pleasure to answer your calls, to answer your emails, to meet you in places. And with the help of the SPD and DPW we have checked on so many things. It has been a constant learning experience, and for that I am very grateful. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
Perrella’s term was to have expired next April. The Common Council will fill the vacancy through appointment by a majority vote of the remaining members per Wisconsin statutes.
