Cubs’ owner, Tom Ricketts, talking to Craig Counsell before the game about the fireworks display they purchased for player introductions:
I mean I legitmately laughed out loud when I saw this video circulating on Twitter yesterday. Did they buy these things on Temu? Wish? Was the guy from Joe Dirt the only firework stand open prior to Opening Day?
Just a perfectly ‘Cubs’ start to the season. When your new team bought pyro from Dollar General:
PS: I’ve come to terms with the rationale behind Counsell’s decision. He’s still close to home and going to a franchise that (theoretically) has far greater financial resources than the Brewers. In his mind, his chances to win a title there are better than they were in Milwaukee. Fine. But I will be rooting for his downfall for his entire tenure in Chicago. Hating the Cubs comes as natural to me as breathing anyway, but the Counsell subplot ramps it up a few notches. Again, thanks for all you did in Milwaukee, now I wish nothing but the worst for you going forward. That may sound petty, but the thing about me is, I can be petty.
