I’m not trying to be ‘too cool for school’ guy, but my general feelings on the solar eclipse yesterday are best summed up by this Curb clip:
Just not for me. If it was for you, great! I saw a lot of people taking a lot of pictures of themselves staring at the sun yesterday and it seemed like they were having a grand old time. That’s good! I’m sure there are plenty of things that I’m really into that they don’t care about either.
Take this Weather Channel reporter, Stephanie Abrams. She’s clearly a big fan of solar eclipses (eclipsi?). She came completely unglued at the site of yesterday’s eclipse. I don’t get it, but she probably doesn’t get when I sound like that after I get a backdoor cover on a MAC college football bet on a Tuesday night in October. Or when I sound like that after I get a free 6-pack of Glazers on my Kwik Trip Rewards app. Different strokes for different folks.
Now my only other question is, does Abrams unseat Jim Cantore in terms of unhinged excitement for weather/science events. Thundersnow Cantore is a different breed:
But I think Abrams may have him beat.
Anyway, if you enjoyed yesterday’s solar eclipse as much as Stephanie Abrams, congrats! The next one is in 2044, and the path of totality* will be in Montana and North Dakota. Book your VRBO’s now.
*Path of Totality sounds like a Megadeth album.
PS: One thing I did enjoy about the eclipse yesterday? It got fairly dark for my afternoon siesta. Morning radio is kind of like a hyrbrid 3rd/1st shift, so I generally take a snooze around the same time the eclipse hit yesterday. 3rd shifters (or anyone who has to supplement sleep during the day) will tell you, the biggest challenge with daytime sleep comes when it’s a clear, sunny day. That and if someone is getting a roof replaced in the neighboorhood. Well just as I closed my eyes yesterday the ol’ moon had just started to throw the curtains on the sun. I could go for that everyday from about 1:30-2:30pm.
Double PS: Live look at the B93 text line yesterday with all of the eclipse talk:
