I love everything about this scene. Boban acknowledging the situation before the second free throw, the crowd slowly getting more and more ramped up, the call from the broadcast team, Boban gesturing to the crowd after he gave them free chicken, it’s a beautiful story!

Now for those that don’t know, Fiserv Forum has a similar promotion for all Bucks games. If a player on the visiting team misses two consecutive free throws in the 4th quarter, it’s free chicken for everyone in attendance. Giannis famously celebrated one of these situations earlier in the season:

Anyway, Boban giving the people what they want in a game that meant nothing is why he is the most beloved Serbian since Mila Jovovic starred in The Fifth Element.

PS: I know we’ve talked a lot about Zach Edey on the podcast in the last few weeks, I think Boban is the PERFECT comparison for how I see Edey’s career playing out. Boban is 7’4, but just hasn’t had the kind of impact on the floor that you’d expect him to. Career averages of 6ppg, and 3.5 rebounds per game. Edey might be a little better than that, but that’s what I see for Edey in the NBA.
