LET’S ONLY I DIDN’T SAY FUDGING GOOOOOOOOO BOYS!
First things first: Any Given Sunday is a CRIMINALLY underrated sports movie, and just movie in general. The second I heard the “Inches” speech as a part of this hype video, I knew it was going to flames of Mordor hot. And not only is it an awesome scene in the movie, it PERFECTLY applies to the 2025 Green Bay Packers. High expectations, team looking like a potential #1 seed, then a tidal wave of injuries, losses, Clayton Tune, and skidding into the playoffs as a #7 seed. But now the clock resets and they can put that all behind them.
Second things second: We’re going to talk more about this on the pod tomorrow, but I don’t think Bears fans want this matchup. They can be as cocky as they want, they can wear those stupid cheese grater hats all week*, but deep down in their hearts, in places they don’t like to talk about at parties, they know they’re overrated this season. Don’t get me wrong, it would appear that Ben Johnson is a good, young coach, and it would appear that Caleb Williams *MIGHT* be a franchise quarterback. I don’t think all of their progress this season is a mirage, but they won a LOT of games they had no business winning this year.
And while they’ve been doing the lambada about their 11 wins and a division title (rightfully so), they know what every other NFL fan knows: They played above their skis. And when you’re a tad overrated, and a bit more lucky than good, the last thing you want coming to your place on Wild Card weekend is your most hated rival. Because make no mistake about it: If the Packers win this game on Saturday night, it erases ALL of the good vibes Bears fans were feeling this year. The last second wins, the come from behind win against the Packers in Week 16, it ALL comes CRUMBLING down.
If they would have played the Rams, or the 49ers and lost this weekend, they could still have spun it as momentum heading into next season. “We won our first division title in 7 years, young coach, young QB blah blah blah.” But not if they lose to the Packers. If the 9-7-1 Packers go into Soldier Field on Saturday night and win? Without Parsons or Kraft or Jenkins or Wyatt? It’s like 2025 never happened in Chicago. Again, I think they’ll be fine going forward, but this season, in a vacuum, GONE.
*Grow up, Bears fan. Do you know how ridiculous you look? Grown adults wearing foam cheese graters as hats?? Pathetic.

PS: Sounds like we might be seeing some snow in Chicago Saturday night?? The NFL’s two oldest rivals, the playoffs, primetime, and snow falling? CINEMA.
