If you’d like one last look at Urban Middle School before it undergoes reconstruction, then you’ll want to attend an upcoming open house. The historic school building on North Avenue, built more than 90 years ago, is schedule for reconstruction beginning at the end of this school year.
Initial work will include removal of the auditorium and the construction of a new addition with classrooms and a new secure main entrance.
Community members are invited to visit Urban on Monday, May 11th between 5:30 and 6:30 PM to have one last look at the school that hosted tens of thousands of students during its first life. Both Urban and Farnsworth Middle Schools were approved for renovation and additions during a November 2024 referendum.
