Pavlovian’s Yelp Review of Churchill Downs: 2.7/5. Wish I could go higher because the carrots were fresh and crunchy, the straw in the stalls was fairly comfortable, could have been fluffed up a bit more. But the service and speed left a lot to be desired. I get that they’re maybe understaffed but this is the Kentucky Derby, folks. We’ve got to have more than one carrot guy. I’m sitting in my stall ALL MORNING waiting for my carrots and this guy is just lollygagging from one stall to the next. I’m not typically someone to say something even if the service is REALLY slow, but even I reached my limit. Again, could have been an off night for them, but I can only review my own experience. Neigh.
Honestly, I feel Pavlovian’s pain here. I think we’ve all been to a restaurant when we’re a little hangry. You put your order in, and every time that damn kitchen door swings open and someone else’s order is up you get hangrier and hangrier. Then the tipping point: Someone who sat down after you gets their carrots/cheese curds before you and you KNOW you ordered before them. All bets are off at that point. Anything can happen. Tantrum, speak to a manager, murder, anything. So if that’s what happened to Pavlovian I think his response was as appropriate as his name.
PS: Me at dinner watching another diner get into it with a waiter or waitress:
