So in non-Josh Jacobs got arrested OTA news: Micah Parsons was back in Green Bay and spoke at length with the assembled media yesterday. And he gave a much more realistic timetable for his on-field return this season. Like a lot of people, I got jacked up when he was tweeting about a Week 1 return following his late-December surgery. But as it turns out, that was likely tweeted from a place of “elite athlete optimism.” Something internet bloggers know less about than you think.
Yesterday he was firm in a, ‘no football activity before 9 months’ stance, which makes sense. That would put us on a timetable of a late-September ramp up, and a return in either Week 5 against da Bears, or Week 6 against the Cowboys.
Like we talked about on the podcast, it feels like the NFL did itself a favor, and through the transitive property the Packers a favor, by keeping high profile games off of the schedule until that time frame. I think it will be tight, but Week 5 against the Bears is on October 11th, that feels somewhat realistic for the beast to be unleashed.
PS: From the moment he got here, the comparisons between Micah and Reggie White were obvious. Elite pass rusher coming to Green Bay in his prime, trying to win a title. And when Micah was on the field last season, those comparisons were more than justified. I will say this though: If Reggie would have torn his ACL in the 3rd quarter against Denver, he would have been back by the 4th quarter against Denver. Biblical healing powers.
Double PS: Micah just need to grab one of these bad boys:

Or one of these:

He’d be right as rain in no time.
