A former Chief of the Sheboygan Police Department has passed away.
David Kirk died on Sunday, May 31 at the Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon at age 70.
Kirk entered service at the SPD in 1977 and, over the next three decades rose through the ranks to be appointed as Chief in 2000, leaving his post in 2008.
Prior to his service in Sheboygan, Kirk earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice cum laude from the UW-Platteville, later earning his Master of Arts in Public Service, with honors, from Marquette University.
A funeral service for David Kirk was held on Friday, June 5th.
