Major changes to the traffic flow of I-43 and Highway 23 near Sheboygan take effect beginning on Monday. That’s when work will commence on the southbound I-43 collector and distributor ramp and its loops, involving a reconstruction of the bridge of that interchange. The closure that begins on Monday is expected to last until early August, or 35 days.

I-43 South to Highway 23 East Detour
Those exiting I-43 south intending to go eastbound on 23 into Sheboygan will be routed onto Highway 23 westbound to Highway Y, and from there onto Highway 23 eastbound into Sheboygan.

Highway 23 West to I-43 South Detour
Those using Highway 23 west to get to I-43 south will need to continue to the Highway Y exit, reverse course, and then continue to I-43 south.
Similar construction and detours will begin on northbound I-43 traffic starting in mid-July. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
