Today is primary election day and, in the Sheboygan area, most attention leading up to it has involved the Democrat primary for Governor. The rules of today’s contest state that you can vote under only one party whether that’s Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or otherwise, and many contests either have no entries or no opponents.
Tom Tiffany is running against Andy Manske for the Republican nomination for Governor, and Tiffany is widely expected to win. The Democrat field is populated with seven candidates and most attention goes to David Crowley and Francesca Hong, with Hong holding a comfortable lead in most polls.
There’s a 3-way race for the Republican nomination in the 26th Assembly District between Tyler Schneekloth, James Brotz and John Belanger; that winner will face Joe Sheehan in November. In the race to face Republican Glenn Grothman for the US Representative in the 6th District, Democrats Amanda Bell and Brad Smith are facing off.
