Sheboygan’s Common Council and community members will again be offered expert information concerning data centers during tonight’s Educational Speaker Series event.
Dr. Ben Green, Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan, Faculty Associate at Harvard University, and co-author of “What Happens When Data Centers Come to Town” will be the featured speaker from 6:30 – 7:30 PM this evening at Uptown Social. The session is open to the public, either in person, or virtually by scanning the QR Code above. Due to time constraints, Dr. Green may not be available for questions after his address.
City Administrator Casey Bradley said Dr. Green was chosen for his relevance to data center issues presented in this area of the country. “Dr. Green is one of the few experts that has actually done a study on the impacts of data center coming into a community. He’s located in Michigan; he was part of a research paper on what happens when data centers come to town. So, that gives a realistic look of real-world impacts that communities are seeing, ultimately, in our region.”
Bradley noted that the purpose of the series is for city officials and residents alike to learn the same information from the same experts while drafting zoning code ordinances needed to manage data centers, should they some day want to come to the City of Sheboygan…something he emphasized is not yet the case.
