The City of Sheboygan has announced that the Department of Public Works will begin curbside collection of fallen leaves on Monday, October 12th, continuing through Wednesday, November 26th.
During this period only, city residents may rake leaf piles into the street gutter for easier and faster pickup. Collection will be done according to zones designated by day-of-the-week, and although it’s hoped that entire zones can be covered in one day, it’s possible that collection may extend into the next day. It’s also possible that snow, ice, or freezing rain will force a day off since equipment can’t collect piles coated with that precipitation.
It was also suggested that to prevent street flooding due to blocked inlets, residents consider mulching leaves into the lawn while cutting the grass, or else to bag leaves and bring them to the New Jersey Avenue drop-off site.
