A businessman from Hilbert in neighboring Calumet County will be spending over a year in federal prison for failure to pay taxes to the IRS.
According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, 62-year-old Edward Kuhn who owns and operates Kuhn Salvage and Demolition in Stockbridge, failed to turn over money withheld from employee paychecks to the IRS. In total, from 2009 to 2023, Kuhn willfully failed to pay $868,175.95 in taxes he owed to the IRS.
US District Judge Byron Conway sentenced Kuhn to 13 months’ imprisonment as a result. His sentencing was part of a nationwide enforcement action led by the Justice Department’s National Fraud Enforcement Division and the IRS.
