It’s time to help the pollinators in Fond Du Lac by not working so hard on the yard.
Officials with the city of Fond Du Lac are inviting the public to participate in Slow Mow May, an initiative that encourages residents to mow lawns less frequently during the month of May, in an effort to support pollinators like bees and butterflies. Officials recommend mowing every 2-3 weeks to give flowering plants more time to bloom, thereby promoting critical habitats and food sources.
Fond du Lac residents who’d like to participate should register so that the City can identify properties participating in the program, thus exempting them from local weed and plant control. You can register online at fdl.wi.gov
