DAIRY NEWS – The 2026 PDP Hoof Management Workshops presented by Professional Dairy Producers® (PDP) will take hoof care conversations out of the classroom and into the barns of working dairy farms. Using the host farm as a live case study, attendees will evaluate records, observe cows and facilities, and identify risk factors that could impact herd performance. Dairy producers, herd managers, hoof trimmers, veterinarians and nutritionists will work alongside industry experts to analyze their findings and develop practical, herd-specific strategies that can be implemented on their own operations.
Two repeating sessions of the one-day workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 16, at ADK North in Plattsburgh, New York and Thursday, June 18, at Miltrim Farms in Athens, Wis. Simultaneous Spanish translation will be offered for both sessions of the program, providing the opportunity for all team members to learn together.
“Dairy producers are always looking for ways to tighten margins while improving the health and productivity of their herds. One of the fastest ways to do that is to ensure cows have healthy hooves,” said Roger Olson, workshop presenter and dairy account manager with Zinpro Corporation. “This workshop will give attendees the tools they need to prevent lameness and the loss of income that comes along with it.”
The interactive sessions will focus on:
- Identifying environmental and management risk factors
- Using hoof health records to uncover trends and guide decisions
- Strengthening prevention and treatment protocols for chronic cows
- Connecting hoof health to labor efficiency, cow comfort and profitability
Facilitators will bring national and international expertise to the sessions, including Karl Burgi, international hoof health expert and founder of the Save Cows® Network; Roger Olson, dairy account manager for Zinpro Corporation; and Dr. Drew Swartz, PhD, dairy cattle extension specialist at Utah State University.
