A man is dead after an ATV rollover accident last evening in Fond du Lac County. The accident was reported by a passer-by shortly before 6 PM on Walnut Road about 5 miles southeast of the City of Fond du Lac. The man was spotted unresponsive lying near his machine which had rolled onto its side. Lifesaving efforts by first responders were unsuccessful.
The preliminary investigation determined that the ATV, westbound on Walnut Road, was towing a brush mower when the driver, a 70-year-old Fond du Lac County man, lost control causing it to flip into the roadway. The Wisconsin DNR is continuing the investigation.
The fatality is the 39th involving an ATV/UTV in Wisconsin this year, and the third recorded in the state this month.
