Sheboygan police say that there’s been an uptick in car thefts involving Kias and Hyundais.
Officials say Sheboygan and surrounding communities have seen an increase in thefts involving models built between 2011 and 2022. They say these models are particularly vulnerable to thefts.
If you own one of these types of vehicles police are recommending you take extra precautions to make sure your vehicle is secure, including always removing your keys, locking your doors, and removing all wallets, purses, and valuables from you car. It’s also recommended that vehicles are parked in well-lit, secure areas when possible, and consider installing a steering wheel lock or additional anti-theft devices.
Some models of Kias and Hyundais are eligible for free anti-theft devices—owner are urged to contact your local dealer for more information.
